Any guy knows there’s certain unwritten rules of etiquette when it comes to using a urinal. You know, don’t make conversation with the guy next to you. Look straight ahead. Don’t bare your ass for all to see. And of course, if at all possible, choose the urinal that maximizes buffer space, as explained by this handy little game here. Those are all no brainers. But here’s where I’m conflicted: are you supposed to aim your pee into the pool of water at the bottom or away from the water.
If you aim at the water, you make quite a bit of noise as your stream disturbs the tranquility and equilibrium of the pool of water. If you avoid the water, but aren’t too careful where you aim, the pee could splatter back on your pants. I tend to side with the first method. I’m not so excited about pee splattered on my slacks, even if it is my own. Plus, it is the men’s room. Yes, there is certain etiquette, but how polite should you expect the etiquette in a men’s room to be?
The reason I bring this up is because, at work, I’ve noticed a jarring lack of the first method (believe me, the sound is quite unmistakable). So, either the venerable attorneys in my office have piss all over their pants or I have yet to perfect the non-splatter method of taking a leak. Can someone help me out here? Is there actually some unwritten rule for how you direct your little waterfall?
